Farrington Gurney Village Hall is twenty years old and to celebrate a weekend of fun was held, opened by local MP Jacob Rees-Mogg.

The hall and playing fields played host to a good crowd of local residents and visitors who enjoyed a variety of attractions, stalls and a car boot sale.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was a children’s party which was attended by around 50 children and their parents, and the entertainer, Rocky’s Magic Parties, certainly kept them amused.

Organiser and Chairman of the Hall Committee, Mike Hedges said: “ The weekend was a real success and being fortunate with the weather we were very well supported. It was a good fun weekend for the village and a fitting way to celebrate twenty years of an excellent village facility.”

MP Jacob Rees Mogg, who opened the event and brought along three of his sons, said: “We all enjoyed the event last weekend. The village hall is the centre of community life and worth celebrating its twentieth anniversary.

“Village life has always revolved around shared activities and it is good to see that it is still strong in Farrington.”

Mr Rees-Mogg, an Oxford University History graduate, also enjoyed looking up his ancestors in the village records, which were on display.
