Malcolm Saunders chalked up a second winner for the season at Bath, the going changed dramatically in only a week to good to soft in places.
Babyfact was entered in the Kersfield fillies handicap over 5 furlongs; she normally performs at her best on good to firm going. He said, “She is very game and tries her heart out, she is very genuine and this is not her ground.”
Malcolm was thrilled as she is a home-bred, owned in partnership with Ginny Nicholas, one of his long-standing owners. He was most impressed by jockey Josephine Gordon who got the mare back up in the final furlong.
Future plans for the mare will wait to see what extra weight the handicapper gives her for this win.
Kym Jones, Malcolm’s head girl, won the best turned out prize before the race for her grooming of Babyfact.
