Chew Valley 1km Fun Run launches

By Emma Robinson in Athletics

The Chew Valley 10k road race & 1km Fun Run is on Sunday 11 June at 9.30am (sponsored by Debbie Fortune Estate Agents) and the 1km Fun Run is now open for entries. The event raises funds for Chew Valley School Society, Bishop Sutton Primary School Society and NICU Support Blood Bikes.

This year the 1km Fun Run is marking the 5th anniversary of the event with a ‘Famous’ theme, so children who wish to can run the off-road course dressed up as their famous celebrity or character.

As with last year the 1km Fun Run starts at 11.45am after the main 10km race, with key stage 1 and 2 children competing in separate races and plenty of opportunity for family and friends to cheer them on. Entrants must be aged 4-14 years and entry is in advance only from www.chewvalley10k.co.uk. The Fun Run costs £5 for children (maximum 250 children) and includes a medal for every runner.

Tickets for the Chew Valley 10km race are selling well with over 340 race places already sold. 10km race entry costs £18.50 (or £16.50 for anyone affiliated to a running club) and includes a free technical T shirt and event medal plus, for the first time, a free (printable) photo download of each runner taking part in the race.

This year there’s the extra option of creating a SportsGiving page when entering – which makes fundraising for your favourite charity or local school simpler than ever and collects the additional Gift Aid from any donations automatically.

Last year both runs sold out in advance, so visit www.chewvalley10k.co.uk quickly to get your place! You can also see the first ever Chew Valley 10k video on the website, giving newcomers a flavor of the event. For more information, please follow the event on Facebook and Twitter @chewvalley10k.
